Welcome
Panic Anxiety Mood Guide
This website seeks to bring hope to those who suffer from a panic,
anxiety or mood disorder. It is designed to help recognition and
self-education, steps towards obtaining a diagnosis and treatment.
It is also a source of information, for all, on the most prevalent
psychiatric diagnoses.
Panic, anxiety and mood disorders have a harsh impact,
challenge survival and define life. Those afflicted seek compassion
and acknowledgement. Sufferers often feel alone, yet they are not.
Recorded since the beginning of mankind, these conditions are universal
across cultures, countries and age groups.
Over time, the causes of panic, anxiety and mood states have been
variously explained. Today, it is paramount to view them as originating
from a troubled brain whose function is impaired, a view supported
by the findings of modern neuroscience. They are indeed neurobiological
in origin, stemming from a brain that is asking for help in restoring
normality to body, mind and soul.
Despite awareness campaigns and available literature, many afflicted
remain unaware of their diagnosis. Treatment is often not sought
and life is compromised. Some seek help, their condition recognised
and treatment prescribed, for most, their condition is denied, ignored,
under-treated or viewed as masquerading another illness.
It is hoped that this guide will encourage those who suffer with
a panic, anxiety or mood disorder to seek help, as there is nothing
to lose but a life without compromise to gain.
